Blues

Men’s golf at Cambridge is one of only nine ‘Full Blue’ sports within the University, and the standard of golf is correspondingly high. Places in the team are open to all resident students at Cambridge University, with international students featuring prominently in recent teams.

The Cambridge Blues have produced nine players who have represented Great Britain & Ireland at the Walker Cup. In addition, thirty-one Blues have also gone on to gain full international caps: twenty-five for England, three for Wales, two for Scotland and one for South Africa.

The Blues play matches over most weekends of the Michaelmas and Lent terms, and our fixture list features many of the top clubs in the South of England. Matches against the hosting members are very competitive, with most clubs fielding teams featuring plus-handicap players; although always played in the spirit of ‘serious fun’.

The matches themselves are 36 holes, generally with 18 holes of foursomes in the morning and 18 holes of singles played in the afternoon. One of the great benefits of Cambridge golf is the chance to meet and converse with members from all walks of life.
